Carpal Tunnel and Wrist Pain

There are eight small bones in the wrist that are known as the carpal bones.  These are aligned in such a way that they form a tube or tunnel through which the Median nerve passes along with the tendons which help to control our hand and fingers.  At times, we may experience a problem with this carpal tunnel as a result of a repetitive stress injury or other difficulty that ends up putting pressure on the median nerve.  It is typically felt as pain and numbness in the wrist and hand but in more severe cases, it may actually cause the hand to be weak as a result of the pinched nerve and tendons.

What most people don’t realize is the fact that the median nerve does not originate near the wrist.  Actually, it travels almost the entire way down your arm and ends up in your hand.  Remember, all nerves originate in the spine anyway and you would be surprised with the number of times that carpal tunnel syndrome is not actually a problem with the carpal bones and the wrist at all.  Many times we have found that the issue could be coming from another area including the elbow and neck.

No matter if the problem is actually in the wrist or in the shoulder or neck we have been able to help thousands of people in the Reno/Sparks area to get rid of their pain using treatments such as adjustments, therapies, laser therapy, traction and much more.  Once our doctors have done a complete exam to determine the cause of your carpal tunnel syndrome they will put together a treatment program to help you eliminate your pain.
